Goofing: A Workshop in New Clown
June 27 & 28 | Theatre Direct @Studio H in Toronto
The world has ended. The dust settles. And from the rubble… a Goof appears.
Bruised, confused, and deeply stupid—yet somehow, still trying to make someone laugh.
Discover what makes you funny in this workshop that explores the raw, ridiculous and stubbornly hopeful Goof inside us all.
What is a Goof?
The kind of person who starts performing in the middle of a dinner party, at a work event, or in a public park—not because they were asked to, but because the room needs it.
There's no red nose, no character, no mask, just your real, deep-down silly self
What We'll Explore:
- Being truly live—responsive to the audience and the moment
- Failing (and making that funny)
- Physical comedy, rhythm, stillness, and exaggeration
- Voice, silence, surprise, and honest play
- Inviting the audience into the game (with permission!)
- Letting go of "trying to be funny" and uncovering what already is
- Building your personal clown vocabulary through risk and discovery
No experience is necessary.
This workshop is open to performers, comedians, improvisers, curious weirdos, and anyone ready to stop hiding and start connecting.
